Most Downloaded XBL Arcade Games of the Week

It’s interesting to see what gamers are spending their microsoft points on in the Xbox Live Arcade. There are so many games and between the games and downloadable content to existing games, it’s interesting to see which of the arcade hits are making the news. I’ve actually heard of the majority of these games as they’re usually the same ones that you’ve heard about for weeks. If you have some spare microsoft points sitting on your account, and you’re looking for a new arcade game to spend them on that why not consider one of these arcade titles.

  1. Battlefield 1943
  2. The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition
  3. Ikaruga
  4. Worms 2: Armageddon
  5. Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers
  6. Castle Crashers
  7. Uno
  8. N+
  9. Hasbro Family Game Night
  10. Sonic the Hedgehog 3

I’ve played Uno and Worms 2 and they are pretty solid games. They aren’t going to keep you hooked for weeks or months by any means, but they will provide some afternoon fun when you’re bored and looking for a change in games. I’ll hope to keep you updated with next weeks most downloaded arcade games as well.

Wendys Download and Win Sweepstakes

To kick off the summer on a strong note Microsoft and Wendys have teamed up to bring to you a very simple sweepstakes that could end up snagging you 1,600 microsoft points, xbox live gold cards, or maybe something else. To enter the sweepstakes you simply have to go to the Xbox Live arcade and download the Wendys gamer picture. If you plan on entering you have from May 11th to May 31st to download it. You don’t even have to use the gamer picture!

If you plan on entering, make sure that you have correct information hooked up to your xbox live account. This means your address, phone number, and name must all be accurate in order for you to claim your prize. If they are not, you will be disqualified no matter your prize or reasoning. You may also encounter problems with the Xbox Live Terms of Service if they really care to enforce anything there. So make sure you have real information there if you plan on entering.

With over 1,000 prizes to be given out and probably very minimal entrants I think this might actually be worth the time. It won’t hurt, and you may end up getting your hands on some free microsoft points or free xbox live gold cards as your prize. Good luck and enjoy your prize.

Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex on Sale

This week Microsoft is bringing us a very good deal. The Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex game will be on sale for only 800 Microsoft Points! This is 400 less than it’s usual price of 1,200 Microsoft Points or a saving of $5.00. If you’re looking for a great deal in gaming, be sure to get on the Xbox Live Marketplace in the next few days and purchase this game.

This is a classic game, who would have expected this to go on sale on the marketplace. In fact, if you’re like me, you probably didn’t even realize you could get this great game on your Xbox with Microsoft Points. Be sure to check this out, it’s a quality game filled with hours of fun. The only thing to consider is whether this game is age appropriate for you. It’s more a younger kid game. It used to be fun for me, but I have a feeling that if I downloaded this I wouldn’t play it.

Half Off Original Halo

If you haven’t played the original Halo game, I don’t know where you’ve been. If you are like me and didn’t have the original Xbox you have an excuse, barely. This game was legit. It may seem a bit weak now after Halo 2 and 3, but it’s still worth it if you need to know the story line.

Originally it was placed in the Xbox Originals for 1,200 microsoft points ($15), but for this week, and this week only, you can get it for 600 microsoft points ($7.50).  Hurry up and jump on this deal before it goes back up in price.

Xbox 360 Price Cuts and Deals

Just last week Microsoft announced a price cut on the already successful Xbox 360. This could have been a move to secure their lead against Sony’s PS3 or simply a move to sell more consoles. The arcade version sells for $200, but it doesn’t include a hard drive. The 60gb Pros are $300. The elite’s with the 120gb hard drive are only $400.

If you are going out to buy a new system, why not get an extra $15-$20 out of it, as well as some quality cheap games? Circuit City is offering a free 1,600 Microsoft Points card with each new consoles purchase. You can also get GRAW2, Saints Row, and Dead Rising for only $15.

Grand Theft Auto IV and Free Microsoft Points

What could be better than getting free microsoft points and a copy of a potential game of the year nominee Grand Theft Auto IV? Head on over to your local Game store and reserve your copy of Grand Theft Auto IV
and you will receive 500 free microsoft points coutouesy of Rockstar Games.

As an added bonus, with the game and the free microsoft points  you will receive four exclusive gamer pictures. While these may not be something for you, there are those of you out there that will enjoy both the rarity of these and enjoy representing GTA: IV.

Halo 3: Heroic Maps Free

The Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack will be free to download on March 25th. Bungie is allowing the free download due to the upcoming legendary map pack. The free heroic maps will be required to play Ranked Big Team, Social Big Team, Team slayer, and Rocket Race.

To those of you the haven’t gotten a chance to play these maps you may wish to download some videos of them on bungie so you can get a feel of what they are like before they go live for you. This will help you learn where the weapons are I imagine. I’m not so sure what else it will do, as I’ve already purchased the maps and have no need to download the videos.

If you fail to download the maps then you will not have access to any of the above playlists. They will remain in the DLC Games until the Legendary Map Pack is released. So congrats, you have successfully waited it out saving yourself 800 microsoft points or $10.
