With the price cuts by Sony and Microsoft on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, Nintendo is going to need to step it up in order to keep getting buyers for the Wii. Nintendo has decided that the first move they are going to make as a response to the price cuts is selling black Wii-motes and nun-chucks. These will be coming out for the upcoming holiday season. Nintendo is going to release a black version of the Wii remote which will be bundled with a black Wii MotionPlus add-on. Also, they will be selling separately a black nun-chuck controller for the holidays.
Nintendo says that this black bundle is the “first new color” for the Wiimote. This could imply that other more exciting shades are on the way.
Some people are glad to see that Nintendo is finally offering different colored controllers. However, this minor sale compares as nothing to the major price cuts by Sony PlayStation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360. Does it really matter what color controller you are using? Although I know many people are going to indeed go out and buy them, Nintendo is still going to need to make a bigger move to compete with the PS3 and Xbox 360.
