Madden NFL 2009: Brett Farve?

Ok so for the last 20 years the cover has gone to basically the best or most deserving player in the NFL who has yet to be featured on a cover. This honor has gone to players like Donovan McNabb before he got injured the first time, Daunte Culpepper before he got injured, Terrel Owens before he got injured. Enough with the curse of the cover.

That’s another story. The point is, Brett Farve retired last I checked. The guy isn’t playing this year, yet he makes the cover? The other 10+ years he was simply amazing they never put him on, but now that he retires he makes cover? He won’t even be in the game! There are rumors about him possibly starting up if the packers need him in a few months, but really. There was nobody else in the league more deserving that could have gotten this?

Back to the point I made in the first paragraph, if Brett does come back, don’t expect him to stay long. The curse is basically truth. Anybody on that cover gets hurt the season they are on the cover. Obviously if he doesn’t come back it won’t happen outside of the game.

What are your thoughts on this? The guy is retired, and he won’t even be in the Madden game. Should he have received the cover of the game or not?

They should have given him the cover a few times but then he finally announced retirement and EA went “Oh crap, we gotta wing it now”. It’s like people never imagined that Brett would ever retire.
